What Adapter For
Your answer

What size T-adapter does my bidet need?

A bidet’s T-adapter usually goes under the tank, between the toilet’s 7/8" fill valve thread and the supply line. If you can’t reach that end, LUXE and TUSHY sell adapters that go on the 3/8" shutoff valve on the wall instead.

Where can you fit the T-adapter?

How big is the valve’s outlet?

LUXE’s check: hold the 3/8" end of a 7/8" tank adapter flush against the valve outlet.

The T-adapter you need

A 7/8" x 7/8" x 3/8" T-adapter

Its top screws onto the fill valve’s 7/8" thread under the tank, the old supply line goes on its bottom, and the bidet hose on its 3/8" side outlet. LUXE’s NEO Plus and TUSHY’s Classic, Spa, Wave and Oasis use this size.

On the package: 7/8 in. x 7/8 in. x 3/8 in. T-adapter

  • Turn the water off at the wall valve and flush the toilet to empty the tank.
  • Unscrew the supply line from the fill valve, screw the T-adapter onto the fill valve, then screw the supply line onto the T-adapter’s bottom.
  • Some bidets take a 1/2" side outlet instead: TUSHY’s electric seats (Aura, Cloud, Cloud+, Ace) and LUXE’s original NEO use 7/8" x 7/8" x 1/2" adapters.

The T-adapter you need

A 1/2" tank T-adapter

LUXE sells one for fill valves outside North America and on RV toilets, for its original NEO bidets only.

On the package: 1/2 in. T-adapter

  • Check the bidet maker’s list of adapters before you choose one, since sizes differ between its models.

The T-adapter you need

A 3/8" compression T-adapter at the valve

It screws onto the wall valve’s 3/8" outlet, the supply line goes on its top, and the bidet hose on its side. TUSHY’s skirted-toilet adapter is 3/8" compression on all three ends.

On the package: 3/8 in. compression T-adapter

  • Turn the valve off and unscrew the supply line from it.
  • Screw the T-adapter onto the valve, the supply line onto the T-adapter’s top and the bidet hose onto its side, then turn the valve back on and check for drips.

The T-adapter you need

A 1/2" T-adapter at the valve

LUXE says 1/2" supply valves are common outside the US and in dense US cities such as Los Angeles and New York, and TUSHY asks buyers in California to check for one.

On the package: 1/2 in. T-adapter

Available on Amazon

  • LUXE’s 1/2" valve kit has no version with a shut-off.

TUSHY Brass Mini Adapter (Skirted Toilet Kit)Angle valve on the wall3/8" compression on all sides

TUSHY’s pages call its 7/8" ends compression fittings. The 7/8" end is the same tank thread a toilet supply line’s 7/8" ballcock nut screws onto.

The tank adapter’s bottom takes your existing supply line, which is 3/8" compression x 7/8" ballcock on a standard toilet. See toilet supply line size if you’re replacing it.

Skirted toilets and hidden fill valves

LUXE’s alternative installation is for a fill valve that’s hidden, blocked off or fed by a hard supply line that can’t be removed, or where there’s no room for the tank adapter. The T-adapter then goes on the wall valve, with the supply line moved to its top, and a longer hose runs up to the bidet. TUSHY’s brass mini adapter does the same job, and TUSHY also uses it when the space between the angle valve and the tank won’t fit its mega adapter.

Shut-off and warm water adapters

Most US shutoff valves have a 3/8" compression outlet, though 1/2" and 7/16" outlets exist. For valve sizes, see shutoff valve size.

Turn the water off at the wall valve and flush the toilet before you unscrew the supply line. Check every joint for drips when the water is back on.

Common questions

Do I need plumber's tape on a bidet T-adapter?

It depends on the maker. LUXE packs plumber's tape with its NEO bidets and says to wrap it around male threads, such as the T-adapter and the toilet tank connection. TUSHY's adapters come with a rubber washer inside. Follow the instructions that came with your bidet.

How long a hose does a bidet need when the T-adapter is at the wall valve?

Measure from the bidet's inlet to the wall valve. LUXE's kits for this come with 10, 16 or 32 feet of hose, which you can trim to length.
